hority (PEMRA) on Thursday issued show cause notice to Channel24 for airing unverified audio tape of the passengers of ill-fated PIA plane before the crash.
In their 9:47 PM transmission, the news channel broadcast an audio clip of the victims,screaming and yelling in the audio clip, which was shown live on television without any editing or screening.
In the notice, PEMRA said the viewers have
lodged complaints on twitter and complaint centre and termed the Channel24 attitude as inhuman and unprofessional. The channel has been asked to f
ile a reply by Dec 15.
According to the notice issued, Channel 24’s coverage
is against the PEMRA electronic code of co
nduct 2015 under sections 3, 8 and 17.
